First Floor Addition - Yagoona

This council-approved first floor addition in Yagoona was carefully designed by MDNB to significantly increase living space while maintaining the character and functionality of the existing dwelling. The proposal delivers a well-balanced upper level that enhances family living, privacy, and long-term value, all within local planning controls.

The new first floor accommodates multiple bedrooms, a central rumpus area, and associated amenities, creating a dedicated private zone separate from the ground-floor living areas. The layout has been thoughtfully planned to maximise natural light, improve internal circulation, and ensure comfortable room proportions suitable for a growing family.

Externally, the addition has been designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing home. A pitched tiled roof form, compatible materials, and carefully proportioned elevations ensure the development sits naturally within the streetscape while minimising visual bulk. Window placement and setbacks were carefully considered to address overlooking and neighbouring amenity.

The project was prepared with full consideration of council requirements, including height controls, setbacks, shadow impact, and privacy provisions. Detailed architectural plans, sections, elevations, and shadow diagrams were prepared to demonstrate compliance and support a smooth approval process.

This project showcases MDNB’s expertise in delivering practical, council-approved residential upgrades that maximise space, functionality, and property value—without compromising neighbourhood character or compliance.
